IDWeek 2022: New pipeline sessions seek presentation of therapeutics and diagnostics!

Dear All:

I have learned that the program for IDWeek 2022 will have specific dedicated pipeline sessions for therapeutics and diagnostics. The online details are relatively scant, but my understanding is that the therapeutics of interest for these sessions include antibacterials, antifungals, and non-HIV, non-COVID antiviral agents. There do not appear to be any constraints on the range of diagnostics.

The program will consist of a 1-h session for antibacterials (~5 compounds will be selected for 10-minute slots), a 1-h session on antifungals and antivirals, and a 1-h session for diagnostics. The sessions will occur on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning (8-9a). The program committee colleague who alerted me to this new program addition says that there have been up to 2,000 attendees at comparable sessions in previous years!

The selection process is competitive. Given the clinical focus of IDWeek, I would assume that products in a more advanced stage (e.g., Phase 2 or Phase 3 therapeutics) would be more likely to be selected … but I’d also guess that highly innovative product with strong preliminary data would be of interest.

Could this be you? The deadline to submit is Monday, August 8. Go to the submission site to put in a proposal. Per that webpage, you can contact Ashley Cavell at program@idsociety.org with questions.

All best wishes, –jr
