Dear All:
First, and with a closing date of 12 Sep 2019, Wellcome Trust is offering grants of up to GBP 750k for research investigating the impact of vaccines on antibiotic use and/or antimicrobial resistance (go here for details).
The core goal of this funding scheme is to develop data that would support and inform vaccine decision-makers around the world as they consider approaches to addressing antimicrobial resistance.
The scope is very broad … anywhere in the world, vaccines for everything from S. pneumoniae to influenza to malaria (not an exhaustive list) and impact on everything from prescribing behavior to rates of resistant infections (again, not an exhaustive list).
Second, and while you’re thinking about applying, listen to the 11-minute clip from NPR’s TED Radio Hour that covers the economic problems with developing vaccines.
