Dear All:
Greetings in the new year! Two things of general interest today:
First, Wellcome Trust has posted an opening for a Science Officer to help develop and implement Wellcome’s work on Drug-Resistant Infections (a copy of job description is here). In this role, you would work closely within a very strong team to implement and support Wellcome’s diverse efforts in this space: CARB-X, surveillance, policy work, and global trial networks. Aside: I’ll also note that I personally collaborate closely with Wellcome in support of these efforts, so by extension I would get to get work with you rather a lot! To apply for the role, go to this link: the posting closes on 31 Jan 2019 … please get busy if this is of interest!
Second, Novartis has announced that it has shared the data from its closed LpxA, LpxD, and LpxK programs that sought to develop novel drugs active vs. Gram-negative bacteria. The data are now available on Pew Trust’s carefully curated and optimized SPARK platform and will join the data previously shared by Achaogen. We were all sorry to see Novartis exit, but at least the data are not lost. You can go to this link to get access to SPARK.
Happy New Year! –jr
